The Makings of a Wreath
So I'm really into making yarn and felt wreaths right now. Here is a how-to guide.
First thing is get a straw wreath. You can use foam, but I prefer straw. You can decide if you want to leave the plastic wrap on or take it off. I prefer to leave it on because I do not want straw all over the apartment. Even with it left on it gets everywhere still.
Next begin to wrap the wreath with yarn. Tie it around the wreath and start wrapping. It does not need to be perfect. I like to tie pieces off and do a little at a time. For some reason it really annoys me to put the giant yarn ball through the center.
If you're lucky a cat will come and "help" you. They do this by chasing the end of yarn, chewing on the yarn ball, and using their claws on everything.
It surprisingly is time consuming. I did this while watching a few episodes of The OC Season 1.
Next get creative and add to it. This is rather Rainbow Brite-ish.
Hopefully one of my friends will enjoy this for Christmas! :)
Let me know if you create any wreaths!

Inspiration Board
Sometimes I like to make inspiration boards for projects. Nowadays it is easier to make them online. So for Christmas I think I am going to attempt to make Christmas presents this year. Yes, I am seriously talking about Christmas in August. Hopefully I will be busy this fall with some work, and will need this jump start. Plus, crafting is fun and I have a good excuse to play around with felt without my apartment having a wreath on every single wall.
So I am trying to really consider each person. Let me start off with my friend Moriah. Moriah likes red, Chinese food, Japanese culture, Hello Kitty, bows, Glee, pearls, lady bugs, strawberries, and history. Now if I tried to personalize all of that into one gift, it'd be a hot mess. Here is the inspiration board I made.
So now begins brainstorming how to make this into a project.

Wait didn't this used to be a style blog?
Yes, this was once a style blog but I deleted it. I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about having my pictures out there. I probably will still occasionally post style pictures.
I admit that I love and adore clothes. I just don't know how I feel about shopping blogs. But yes, I do enjoy Anthropologie A LOT.
So currently I am enjoying getting into crafting. I recently moved 4+ hours away from home and all my friends. So I am learning how to amuse myself. My projects to date have included wreath making, a button collage of Virginia, decoupaging tables with maps, decorating magnets for the fridge, decorating a lampshade, starting a quilt, and making necklaces. Notice a home beautifying theme? New apartment and low on cash!
More importantly, I am a crafter that is learning. This is a new addiction for me. Here is a showcase of my recent creations...
Rainbow Wreath
Old lampshade spruced up with felt. Felt is currently my favorite medium. Also the table underneath is a tray table. Husband's former roomate left tray tables behind, so I decided to decoupage them. It was my first attempt and came out really wrinkly.
Terrarium
Fridge decor
Honestly, this one is all Husband's doing. He took pages from old atlases and encyclopedias to use as art. These date from late 19th century to early 20th century.
Virginia! I want to make more of these, but I don't want to use all of my buttons. Most of these buttons belonged to my Great Grandmother. I want to be selfish and keep them for myself.
This is a wreath in progress. I have some crafting material leftover from the wedding I want to use to finish this wreath.
I just ordered a 50 pack of felt. More crafts coming soon.
